The long wait is over! As most of you have heard by now, Charlie and I finally received our Peace Corps invitation- a short 14 months after we applied!
We are going to Benin (West Africa) in July!
For those of you that have to look at a map (like we did!)- let me help you out:
It is the small county to the left of Nigeria. While it wasn't where we thought we were going, the more we read, the more excited we get. It apparently has both beautiful beaches and a wildlife park in the north- so start planning your vacations now! WE WANT VISITORS!
But, wow, now we have so much to do- lots of planning to get ourselves ready to go! We hope you'll bookmark our blog and follow us along on our journey abroad. We won't know what our electricity/internet situation will be until we get there, but we'll update it as much as we can!

Very cool! While I don't think we will be visiting (I am sure you would rather not have 4 kids and me who you have barely spent any time with in the past 20 or so years) it might be a cool homeschooling adventure to follow your travels through your blog(if you don't mind). Geography comes alive when you have a face to put with areas (if that makes sense).

On my first trip abroad as a kid, I was told "don't chew gum with your mouth open, or people will think you're from Tennessee." Remember that. :)
